KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Montana Tech fell six spots to No. 23 in the latest edition of the NIAA Football Coaches’ Top 25 Poll released today.
The demotion comes two days after the 6-3 Orediggers fell 30-19 to Carroll College in Helena.
A number of Top 25 teams suffered losses over the weekend. Then-No. 9 Evangel who was the top contender in the Heart of America Athletic Conference lost to an unranked team and fell to No. 17. Benedictine (Kan.) dropped eight places after losing to No. 20. Indian Wesleyan, Sterling (Kan.), and Montana Western all fell out of the Top 25 after losses.
The Bulldogs (6-3) still received votes. Carroll moved into the poll for the first time this season at No. 22.
Morningside (Iowa) continues to hold onto the top spot. None of the top 8 teams moved spots in the poll. The College of Idaho, which came back to beat Western in Caldwell, Idaho, Saturday, is still No. 6.
The Orediggers host their final game of the season at home Saturday. Rocky Mountain College comes to the Mining City for the Montana Tech Senior Day. Western plays host to Southern Oregon.
