HAVRE — The streak is over.
After a month of close calls, the Montana Tech women’s basketball team finally got over the hump Saturday night, beating MSU-Northern 62-55 at the Armory Gymnasium. (Stats)
The win stops Tech’s eight-game losing streak that dates back to just before Christmas.
Tavia Rooney and Kaylee Zard each scored 13 points, and Mesa Williams added 12 for the Orediggers, who overcame a 17-4 deficit at the end of the first quarter.
The Orediggers trailed 34-18 at halftime before outscoring the Skylights 44-21 in the second half.
Rooney, a true freshman, also pulled down 11 rebounds in the win.
Mollie Peoples scored eight points for the Orediggers (12-10, 2-8). Hope lalu tossed in six, Celestina Faletoi netted four, and Hailey Crawford and Dani Urick each scored three.
Peyton Kehr scored 16 points to lead the Skylights (15-7, 4-6). Sydney Hovde and Kenya Lorton each scored 10.
Next up for the Orediggers is Wednesday’s trip to Helena to take on Carroll College.
