LA MIRADA, Calif. — The 2014 volleyball season got off to a promising start for the Montana Tech Orediggers.
Tech beat Concordia of Oregon 25-20, 25-15, 26-24 in its first game at the Biola Summer Slam Tournament.
Sydney Norris tallied nine kills to lead the Oredigger attack. Hayley Druyvestein and Jordan Danz added eight kills, while Korey Krumm, Annie Smoot and Bailie Cortner each killed five.
The Orediggers had a balanced backcourt performance. Kimmy Kavran collected 15 digs, while Nirris dug 13 and Cortner dug 10. Makenzie Bauck and Alison Lunde combined for 34 digs, Bauck with 18 and Lunde with 16.
Ashley Jibby’s nine kills paced Concordia.
Tech will play Cal State University San Marcos tonight. On Friday, the Orediggers will play Concordia (Calif.) and Westmont College.
