Montana Tech Athletics and the Digger Athletic Association host the inaugural Digger Scholarship Scramble Sept. 16 at the Butte Country Club. All of the proceeds from the event support scholarships for Montana Tech’s student-athletes.
All four-person teams tee off at noon with a shotgun start. The cost is $150 per player or $600 for a team. Hole sponsorships are available for $200 each or a team and a hole sponsorship combo for $700.
The one day golf event runs in conjunction with Hall of Fame weekend for the Orediggers. The Hall of Fame reception takes place after the scramble at the Butte Country Club. A no-host social starts at 6 p.m. with the reception and induction ceremony taking place at 7 p.m. The Hall of Fame reception is free and open to the general public. Complimentary appetizers and a cash bar will be available.
The 2016 induction class includes Connie (Froke) Akers (women’s basketball 1980-83), CJ Johnson (men’s basketball 1982-84), the 1996 Football Team and Bill Yeagle (contributor 1986-98). Last year’s yearly award winners will also be honored. David Meis was the recipient of the Ed Simonich Award and Sydney Norris and Hattie Thatcher.
The Oredigger football team host Rocky Mountain College on Saturday Sept. 17.
