Digger men reveal slate

The Montana Tech men’s basketball team unveiled the 2012-13 schedule Wednesday.

Head coach Aaron Woliczko opens his third season with the Orediggers at home in the second game of a double header with South Dakota School of Mines on Oct. 26. That game will be the first of 14 home games.

The men’s team last faced South Dakota Tech at the Perkin’s Classic in Spearfish, South Dakota on December 30th, 2011. The Orediggers topped the Hardrockers 66-64.

After the home opener, the team travels to three different tournaments. They face Corbin University and Evergreen State College in Spokane at the Red Lion Cascade/Frontier Conference Challenge.

The Carroll College Tournament in Helena is Nov.16-17 where the Orediggers will see a pair of challenging opponents in Eastern Oregon and Embry Riddle from Florida. The Westminster Holiday Classic has a match-up against Division II opponent Chadron State over Thanksgiving.

The schedule includes two Division I exhibition games. Tech travels to Pocatello to face Idaho State on Nov. 1. Tech will play Montana State Dec. 6 in Bozeman.

There is an addition to the Frontier Conference this year. Dickinson State joined as a full member. Montana Tech defeated the Blue Hawks at home last year 60-57 in the second game of the season. Dickinson travels to Butte on Feb. 15.

The Frontier Conference season opens Dec. 22 in Lewiston, Idaho, against the Lewis-Clark State Warriors. The home opener of the conference season is Jan. 3 against Montana Western.

The Frontier Conference Tournament is February 26-March 4. All games will be at the highest seeds home location.

Season tickets are now on sale. Reserved tickets for both men and women’s games are $100 and general admission is $50. Call 496-4105 for tickets.
