Denning, Stephenson receive Frontier honors

WHITEFISH — Natali Denning and Jamal Stephenson swept the Frontier Conference Basketball Player of the Week Awards, the league announced today.

Denning took home the women’s honor, while Stephenson received the men’s award.

Denning, a 6-foot sophomore from Tualatin, Oregon, helped lead the Bulldogs to a pair of wins over the College of Idaho to start the season. The Bulldogs won 83-51 and 72-52 at the Straugh Gym.

Denning averaged 16.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, two assists and two steals over the two games. She shot 10 for 17 (59 percent) from the field, including a 4-for-6 effort from 3 point range (68 percent). She shot 9 for 13 from the free throw line.

Stephenson, a 6-foot-3 junior guard from Skokie, Illinois, scored 17 points and pulled down five rebounds in a season-opening win over Yellowstone Christian College. He shot 5 for 13 from the field and 6 of 6 from the free throw line.
