MISSOULA — Butte High Bulldogs turned Montana Grizzlies Keli Dennehy and Gwenn Abbott claimed first place at the Al Manual Invitational at Dornblaser Field Saturday.
Dennehy, a sophomore, won the 3,000-meter race. She finished in 10 minutes, 52.98 seconds, beating second-place Katie Mahoney of Eastern Washington by 19 seconds in the final. Dennehy’s seed time was an impressive 10:32.50.
Abbott, a junior, took the top spot in the high jump. She leaped 1.65 meters. Adessa Durglo placed second at 1.60. Abbott’s seed mark was 1.70 meters.
Butte Central graduate Sean “Diesel” Ferriter, a sophomore on the Montana State team, opened the meet Friday by placing fourth in the hammer throw. Ferriter’s throw went for 55.88 meters. Jordan Arakawa of Eastern Washington won the event in 59.94.
