Dean, Bakalarski named Frontier POWs

WHITEFISH — Hannah Dean of Carroll College and Caulin Bakalarski of MSU-Northern were named the Frontier Conference basketball Players of the Week, the league announced today.

Dean was named the women’s top player, while Bakalarski took home the men’s award.

Dean is a 6-foot-1 junior center from Gardiner. The 24th ranked Saints scored two top-10 upsets over the weekend. Carroll beat No. 10 Montana Western 82-45 and No. 7 Lewis-Clark State 73-67.

For the weekend, Dean averaged 18.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, two blocks and one steal. She was 17 of 34 from the field and 3 for 3 from free throw line.

Shay Potter of Montana Tech, Parker Esary of the University of Providence and Brooke Jones of Rocky Mountain College.

Bakalarski is a 6-foot-3 junior guard from Olalla, Washington. Northern went unbeaten for the weekend with two home conference wins. The Lights beat the University of Providence 74-63 and Montana Tech 71-63.

Bakalarski averaged 15.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, one assists, one block and two steals. He was 10 of 16 from the field (63 percent), 3 of 6, 3-point field goals and was 8 for 8 from the free throw line.

Trent Molesworth of Montana Tech, Dom Robinson of Montana Western, Jared Samuelson of Rocky Mountain College, Derrick White of Lewis-Clark State and Ryan Imhoff of Carroll College were also nominated.
