The Dawson Community College baseball team heads to the Mon-Dak Conference tournament as the No. 2 seed.
The tournament opens Friday in Devils Lake, North Dakota, with a trip to the Region XIII Tournament on the line. The Buccaneers won their final six games to close the season with a 23-18 overall record. Dawson finished 14-6 in conference play.
The team includes Butte players Nate LeProwse, Kilian O’Leary and Ty Harney.
O’Leary, freshman, plays third base and pitches for the Buccaneers. He has a 2-1 record and a 4.67 ERA. He is batting .284 with eight doubles and 14 RBIs in 34 games.
LeProwse, also a freshman, is 3-2 with seven pitching appearances for the Bucs. He also plays second base, and is hitting .178. He has a home run, triple and double on the season.
Harney is a sophomore pitcher and catcher. He has two doubles and is batting .111 in 16 games. On the bump, Harney appeared in one game this season.
LeProwse will rejoin the Butte Miners American Legion team when his college season is complete. The Miners opened the season by winning both ends of a doubleheader against the Bitterroot Bucs Sunday in Florence.
