DILLON — Talk about a long night at the Straugh Gymnasium.
Shortly after the Montana Western women edged Montana Tech in overtime, the men one upped them.
Jake Owsley scored 25 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead the way as the Bulldogs topped the Orediggers in a 94-91 double-overtime thriller Thursday night. Stats
“It was a great game and we played our best game of the season,” Tech coach Patrick O’Herron said.
Owsley was one of three Bulldogs in double figures in the Frontier Conference victory that pushed Western’s record to 1-1 in conference and 8-5 overall.
Maazin Butler scored 20 of his 23 points after halftime, and Jordan Overstreet hit on 17 of 19 free throw attempts and scored 21 points.
Antonio Snow, an electrifying guard who made his Oredigger debut, was one of three Tech players to score 19 points in the loss. Bryan Bock and Adam Greger were the others.
Bock, a guard, pulled down a team-best 12 rebounds. He also dished out six assists as Tech fell to 0-2 and 7-6.
The Orediggers head to Salt Lake City to take on Westminster College on Saturday. Western plays host to LC State on Friday.
“It was a tough loss, but we need to let it go and focus our attention on Saturday’s game,” O’Herron said.
