WHITEFISH — Students-athletes from Montana Western were selected Frontier Conference Football Players of the Week, the league announced today.
Kyler Prante was named Offensive Player of the Week, Joe Caicedo took the Defensive honor, and Jason Ferris was named the Special Teams Player of the Week.
The honors come after the No. 20 Bulldogs went to Billings and routed No. 24 Rocky Mountain College 38-7.
Kylar Prante, 5-foot-9, 220-pound junior running back from Elma, Washington, rushed for a career-high 187 yards and two touchdown on 29 carries. He caught four passes for 12 yards.
Jet Campbell of Montana Tech, Shane Sipes of Carroll College, Lucas Overton of Rocky Mountain College and Marvin Williams Jr. of Southern Oregon were also nominated for the offensive award.
Caicedo, a 6-1, 220-pound junior linebacker from Darby, recorded seven solo tackles, three assisted tackles and .5 tackles for loss (-2). He returned two fumbles for touchdowns (45 and 25 yards).
Jacob Clarke of Montana Tech, Japerri Powell of MSU-Northern, Mason Price of Rocky Mountain College and Zach Spiroff of Carroll College were also nominated for the defensive honor.
Ferris, 6-3, 220-pound senior linebacker from Dillon, Ferris blocked a field goal attempt in the Western win. He also recorded 11 unassisted tackles, five assisted tackles, one sack and four tackles for loss (-9) in the win.
Tyler Padilla of Montana Tech, Wyatt Brusven of Rocky Mountain College, Josh Kraft of Carroll College, Jaiden Machuca of Eastern Oregon and Titus Pulliam of MSU-Northern were also nominated for the special teams award.
