Dawgs sweep Northern

DILLON — Montana Western made it a clean sweep over MSU-Northern Saturday night at the Straugh Gym.

Western’s women beat the Skylights 83-69 before the Bulldog men downed the Lights 83-79.

Shainey Mack hit five 3-pointers and poured in 23 points to lead three Bulldogs in double figures scoring in the opener. Brynley Fitzgerald scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Mesa King followed with 10 points and six boards.

The Bulldogs, who led 44-37 at the half, also got nine points from Natali Denning and Jayden Winslow, and eight from Paige Holmes.

Peyton Kehr’s 20 points to lead four Skylights in double figures. Tiara Gilham added 17 points, while McKenzie Gunter scored 12 and Cameron Mooney tossed in 10.

Jalen Hodges scored 25 points to pace the Bulldog men in the night cap. He was one of three Bulldogs in double figures, with Jamal Stephenson scored 17, and Jok Jok tossing in 14. The Bulldogs also got eight apiece from Max Clark, Tanner Haverfield and Colter Miller.

David Harris paced the Lights with 22 points. Mascio McCadney added 16, and Jomel Boyd netted 11.

The teams play again Sunday in Dillon. The doubleheader begins with the women’s game at 2 p.m.
