Dawgs roll on Hi-Line

HAVRE — Jon Jund passed for five touchdowns — three to Nate Simkins — and Montana Western rolled to a 63-7 win over MSU-Northern Saturday on Tilleman Field. (Stats)

Isaiah Thomas, Trey Mounts and Colton McPhee also caught touchdown passes. Thomas’ TD came from Peyton Broennek.

McPhee, Matt Jorgensen and Sean Cooney ran for touchdowns for the Bulldogs, who led 63-0 before Northern’s Cannan Smith scored on a 50-yard punt return.

Jund completed 19 of 23 passes for 275 yards. Simkins racked up 154 yards on eight catches.

At 5-3 in conference (6-3 overall), Montana Western is one game behind Rocky Mountain College and the College of Idaho for first place in the Frontier.

The Bulldogs play host to Montana Tech next Saturday. The Lights fell to 1-7 in conference and 1-8 overall.
