Dawgs pick to win Frontier

WHITEFISH — Montana Western is the coaches’ pick to win the Frontier Conference football title.

The Frontier released its preseason coaches poll today, and the Bulldogs took home four of the eight first-place votes. The nod comes after the Bulldogs shared the regular-season title with College of Idaho and Rocky Mountain College.

The Bulldogs won the tiebreaker and represented the Frontier in the NAIA playoffs.

Western holds the top spot in the poll with 43 points. Carroll College, which received three first-place votes, tied for second with Rocky at 37. The College of Idaho received a first-place vote and was picked fourth with 33 points.

Montana Tech was picked fourth with 30 points in the poll, topping Eastern Oregon’s 19, Southern Oregon’s 17 and MSU-Northern’s eight.

Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams. First place was worth seven points, second place worth six points, third place worth five points, fourth place worth four points, fifth place worth three points, sixth place worth two points and seventh place worth one point.
