Dawgs open with win

DILLON — Jamal Stephenson poured in 17 points to lead all scorers Wednesday night as Montana Western’s men’s basketball team opened the season with a 66-56 win over Yellowstone Christian College in an empty Straugh Gymnasium. (Stats)

Max Clark added 12 points for the Bulldogs, who got 10 points from Michael Haverfield. Western also got nine points from Jok Jok, eight from Tanner Haverfield and seven from Colter Miller. Miller pulled down 14 rebounds in the win.

Christian Beeke scored 15 points to lead Yellowstone Christian, which trailed 29-28 at the half. Davonte King scored 12 points, while Devin Jones and Derrian Reed each tossed in 10.

The Bulldogs are scheduled to play at Idaho State on Saturday.
