KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Montana Western is playoff bound.
The Bulldogs open the NAIA Football Championship Series on the road Saturday against top-ranked Lindsey Wilson (Kentucky).
The pairings were announced Sunday evening.
Western beat Rocky Mountain College 50-42 in double overtime Saturday. The win, which was the third straight for the Bulldogs, gave them a share of the Frontier Conference title at 7-3.
Rocky and the College of Idaho were also 7-3, but only Western advances to the playoffs.
Western is the 16th seed in the 16-team playoffs. At 8-3 overall, Western is the only three-loss team in the tournament.
Lindsey Wilson College, a private United Methodist-related college in Columbia, Kentucky, is 10-0.
The Blue Raiders have outscored their opponents by a combined score of 456-75 to win the Mid-South Conference title. They have pitched four shutouts.
