DILLON — Montana Tech saw yet another upset bid fall short.

Zaccheus Darko-Kelly poured in 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as No. 10 Montana Western turned back the Orediggers in a 71-67 Frontier Conference battle at the Straugh Gymnasium. (Stats)

The game marked the second time Western beat Tech by four points in 10 Days. Western escaped the HPER Complex with a 75-71 win Feb. 1.

The Bulldogs (11-4, 21-5) have now won 10 out of their last 12 days as they battle for the Frontier Conference title.

Western’s win, which completed the three-game regular-season sweep of the Orediggers, came despite Tech holding Western senior guard Dom Robinson to eight points.

That marks the first time since the season opener in October that Robinson, who averages 18.3 points per game, didn’t reach double figures.

The Bulldogs, though, still had enough for the win. Kooper Kidgell tossed in 14 points, while Ryan Jones and Warren Helligar each scored 10.

Western, which used just seven players, also got five points from Marcus Payne and one from Troy Scott. Robinson dished out four assists.

Freshman Nick Fitts came off the bench to score 21 points to lead the Orediggers (3-13, 11-16).

The guard hit on 7 of 9 shots from the field, including a 5-for-7 performance from 3-point range.

Senior guard Chris O’Neill added 16 points for the Orediggers, who got seven from Carson Dummer, six from Derrius Collings, five from John Chapman, three from Iman Chatman and Taylor England, and two from Trent Molesworth.

Dylan Pannabecker and Kale Guldseth also played for the Orediggers, who will be in Lewiston, Idaho, Saturday to take on Lewis-Clark State.

Western will battle the Warriors on Friday.
