CALDWELL, Idaho — J.D. Ferris threw a pair of third quarter touchdown passes Saturday, and No 25 Montana Western picked up a 26-13 road victory over the College of Idaho. Stats

Ferris hooked up with Tyler Murray and Matt Lickfold for scoring strikes of 24 and 19 yards as the 2-0 Bulldogs broke open a game that was 12-7 at halftime.

Sam Rutherford, who ran for 83 yards on 25 carries, scored a 1-yard touchdown to tie the game at 7 early in the second quarter. That followed a Tyler Cox 8-yard TD pass to Michael Blackwood-Kirby.

Seth Mason put the Bulldogs on top for good at 10-7 with 6 minutes, 10 seconds left in the second quarter.

Ferris completed 13 of 21 passes for 135 yards. He was picked off once. Lickfold hauled in six passes for 65 yards.

Zach Janis registered 13 tackles for a Western defense that picked off three passes.

The Bulldogs play their home opener against Eastern Oregon next Saturday. 1 comment
