The Cullan Barry Memorial Concussion and Hockey Safety Clinic will be held Oct. 19 at the Butte Community Ice Rink.
The clinic, which will feature Junior A players and coaches, will run from 1 to 4 p.m. It will be held in conjunction with the Butte Amateur Hockey Association and the Cullan Barry and Ray Tilman Memorial.
Players are asked to bring full equipment for the safety clinic.
The clinic will focus on on-ice injury reduction and off-ice injury reduction.
On-ice injury reduction will focus on:
— On-ice safety zones and ice awareness
— Receiving a body check
— Skating skills evasive maneuvers
— Practicing heads up, don’t duck
— Delivering a body check safely
— Heads-up puck handling
The off-ice injury reduction will focus on:
— Equipment fit and safety
— Nutrition for hockey
— Think First Smart Hockey video
— Dry-land conditioning
— Concussion pre-post testing
— Hockey safety rules/respect
