Criscuolo, Maroons stop Locomotives, stay alive

ANACONDA — With their season on the line Friday morning, the Maroons had a freshman come through. Big time.

Freshman right fielder Kassidy Criscuolo drove in four runs as Butte Central beat Laurel 6-2 in a loser-out game on Field No. 2 at the Charlotte Yeoman-Martin Complex. BC will play Billings Central in another loser-out game at 3 p.m. on Field No. 4.

The Maroons will need two more wins today to advance to tomorrow.

Criscuolo’s big hit was a two-run triple to give the Maroons the lead for good in the sixth inning.

Teresa Piazzola struck out five, scattered four hits and worked around three walks to the get win in the pitcher’s circle. She also poked a pair of hits, as did Taylor Wahl.

Kloie Thatcher doubled, while Emily St. John and Corbyn Holm singled. Mollie Peoples, Megan Michelotti all made stellar defensive plays.

Hailey Spitzer and Kallie Linse each went 2 for 3 to lead the Locomotives, whose season came to an end.
