SPEARFISH, S.D. — Spearfish scored eight runs in two different innings Sunday, and the Sasquatch routed the Mining City Tommyknockers 21-3 at Black Hills Energy Stadium. (Boxscore)
The win gave the Sasquatch the win in the three-game Expedition series. It also gave them four wins in seven games against the Knockers this week.
Charles McAdoo poked four hits, while Ben Parker, Will Riley and Ryan Bachman each had a three-hit game. Matt Crossley homered and was one of four Sasquatch players with three RBIs. Parker, McAdoo, Nicky Winterstein were the others.
The Butte club committed four errors, allowing six unearned runs. The Sasquatch outhit the Tommyknockers 21-11. Hunter Runion pitched five innings for the win.
David Melfi went 3 for 5 with a double to lead the Tommyknockers. Seth Lucero and Justin Green each added a double and a single, while James Martin doubled.
The Tommyknockers fell to 9-8 on the second half, falling two games behind the first-place Souris Valley Sabre Dogs in the Lewis Division. (Standings)
After the three-game All-Star break, the Tommyknockers will take on the Pierre Trappers in a four-game series starting Thursday at 3 Legends Stadium.
