BOZEMAN —Montana State Women’s Golf kicked off the 2012 season at the opening day of the Bobcat Invitational at Riverside Country Club.
At the end of day one, the ‘Cats finished in first place with 303 (+19). MSU was lead by multiple players who finished in the top ten.
Paige Crawford was the Bobcats leader, tying for first with a score of 73. She shares the top spot with Sadie Palmer of Southern Utah. Haylee Folkvord finished next overall, her score of 75 has her in fourth place at the end of the first day.
The last two Bobcats within the top ten were Kelly O’Brien and Kati Greear who tied for sixth with 76. Up next for MSU were Molly Dorans and Pamela Calderon, who are tied for 14th with 78. Lauren Hausauer is tied for 25th with 82, a score of 85 by Bergen Buck has her in 32nd and Melissa Hultstrand is in 36th place with 91.
Montana is three strokes behind and sitting in second as Southern Utah, Utah Valley and North Dakota finish out the team placings.
“Overall I am very pleased, it was a great start,” said head coach Brittany Basye. “The biggest thing is that it’s the first tournament. I know we we’re all nervous, but for the first day we held our own. To see everyone participating is awesome and there is always room to improve.”
Golfers hit the links again on Monday at 8am, at Riverside Country Club.
