Craig Mills will once again umpire Legion World Series

Butte native Craig Mills will serve as an umpire at the American Legion World Series, which starts Thursday in Shelby, North Carolina.

This will mark the third time Mills, a Burley, Idaho, resident, will umpire the pinnacle of the American Legion baseball season.

Mills, a 1983 graduate of Butte Central, is the son of Butte residents Art and Carol Mills. He currently teaches political science at Burley High School.

The four days of “pool play” leading up to the semifinals will be streamed through ESPN’s webcasting service ESPN3. The semifinal games on Aug. 17 and the championship game on Aug. 18 will be televised live on ESPNU.

Butte native Rob O’Neill, who is known worldwide as the man who killed Osama bin Laden, will be the keynote speaker at the Commander’s Reception prior to the World Series.
