Coyotes Late Rally Denies Digs

CALDWELL, Idaho – The College of Idaho came from behind as Montana Tech women’s basketball tried to hand the Yotes their first loss of the season. The Yotes scored the final eight points downing the Orediggers 53-49.

After two layups, the Yotes (4-0) hit four of their five free throw attempts to put the game away.

The Orediggers (2-4) rushed out ahead of the Yotes in the first half taking a commanding 32-21 lead before halftime. Tech shot 44.1% from the field in the first half. The Yotes shot just 23.5% in the first half

The story flipped in the second half with the Yotes shooting 32.1% and the Orediggers shooting 21.2%.

The Orediggers went 3 for 22 from three in the game and the College of Idaho went 15 for 20 from the free throw line.

Challis Westwater led the Orediggers with 10 points and seven rebounds. Tavia Rooney had nine rebounds.

Taryn Riley led the Yotes with 14 points and Sienna Riggle had 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Montana Tech faces a NCAA Division I opponent this week for an exhibition. The Orediggers travel to Idaho State Tuesday.
