Cougars run past Diggers in exhibition game

PROVO, Utah — Jake Toolson scored 17 points to lead four BYU players in double figures Saturday, and the Cougars beat Montana Tech 98-63 in an exhibition men’s basketball game. (Stats)

BYU led 51-35 at halftime, and the Cougars pulled away by outscoring Tech 47-28 in the second half.

T.J. Haws scored 15 points for BYU, while Zac Seljaas tossed in 14, and Kolby Lee netted 11.

Taylor England paced the Orediggers with 16 points and four assists.

Derrius Collins added 11 points for the Orediggers, who got nine from Sindou Diallo, eight from Christian Jones, six from Troy Owens Jr., five from Dylan Pannabecker, three from Cody Baumstarck and Connor Kieckbusch, and two from Drew Huse.

The Orediggers open Frontier Conference play Tuesday against Carroll College in Helena.
