Copper Sprockets lift off for victory in Lolo

LOLO — The Copper Sprockets had themselves a day Saturday.

The Butte youth cycling team rode to victory at the Lolo Lift-Off. The Copper Sprockets scored 2,144 points to top the field of 16 teams. (Results)

The Hellgate Mammoths took second at 2,133. Bozeman High School was third at 2,074.

Max Kluck took first place in the boys’ varsity division, finishing just ahead of teammate Aiden Sorich. Kluck is the points leader in the category.

Will Silk placed seventh in the boys’ varsity group for the Butte team.

Hannah Kluck finished third in the girls’ varsity race.

Only the varsity race is scored for team points, though riders as young as sixth grade also compete. Max and Hannah Kluck, Sorich and Silk make up the Copper Sprockets varsity team.

Copper Sprocket Milee Stillwagon rode to fifth place in the sixth-grade girls’ division. Teammate Caden Tippett placed seventh in the girls’ eighth-grade group. Coen Lutke took ninth in the sophomore boys’ division.

Patrick Renouard and Aige Christensen also competed for the Copper Sprockets on Saturday.
