Copper Sprockets finish third in points standings

The Butte Copper Sprockets finished the 2021 youth cycling season in third place in the Montana NICA standings.

The final race of the 13-team league was Saturday’s Lolo Final Landing. The Hellgate Mammoths of Missoula won the team title. Bozeman High School placed second.

Butte’s Aiden Sorich won the season title in the varsity boys’ division. Sorich, who won the Sorini 25 at the Butte 100 in July, was competing against teammate Max Kluck, who broke his collarbone during a practice ride before the Sept. 25

The injury kept Kluck, the winner of the 100-mile race at the Butte 100, out of the final two races.

Hanna Kluck placed third overall in the varsity girls’ division. Coen Lutke took third in the sophomore boys’ group.

The points total is based on three races, dropping the fourth time. Racers get a 25-point bonus for competing in all four races.

Other members of the Copper Sprockets are Bo Bjorgum, Ainge Christensen, Ryan Draper, Giovanni Fantini, Soren Keeland, Benjamin McAdams, Will McGree, Patrick Renouard, Will Silk, John Spear, Milee Stillwagon, Caden Tippet, Ian Troutman and Joey Ward.

Gary Wyss is the Copper Sprockets team director. Ridders interesting in competing for the team next season can contact him at
