Butte’s Copper City Softball’s 11-12 All-Star team is two wins away from a trip to San Bernadino, California.

The Butte girls beat Anaconda’s All-Stars twice Tuesday on the Ed Austin Field to win the Montana District 2 championship. Copper City won 10-0 and 21-2 to win the best-of-three series.

Wednesday’s “if-necessary” game will not be necessary.

The victory sends the Copper City All-Stars to Billings next Wednesday and Thursday for the state championship series. The winner of that best-of-three battle will advance to the West Regional, which is July 24-30 in San Bernadino.
