DALLAS — Butte’s Ethan Cooney scored a goal Sunday as the Montana Thunderblades beat the Columbia Cyclones 3-2 in overtime of the Tier II U16 national hockey tournament at the Dr. Pepper StarCenter. Stats

Cooney’s goal, which came on a power play, tied the game at 2 late in the second period. Hazen McKay scored the game-winner in overtime.

Collin Sassano also scored a goal for the Montana team, which includes Butte’s Kody Chamberlin.

The Thunderblades will play South Dakota in Monday’s championship game. That is a rematch of last year’s title tilt, which was won by Montana.
