Concordia tops Diggers, stays unbeaten

IRVINE, Calif. — No. 2-ranked Concordia College from California stayed undefeated Saturday morning with a 3-0 win over Montana Tech at the Asics/Wyndham Labor Day Classic.

The Orediggers nearly pulled out victory in the first game, falling 27-25. Concordia then closed out the sweep with wins of 25-15 and 25-22. Stats

Kyra Auten pounded 13 kills to lead Concordia to the win. Madeline Deters added 10 kills, while Jessica Israel spiked nine.

Samantha Hutcheson and Haley Druyvestein each tallied five kills to lead the Orediggers, who fell to 3-4 during their brutal non-conference schedule. Bailie Cortner spiked five, while Korey Krumm killed four.

Also for Tech, Makenzie Bauck dished out 14 assists and Kimmy Kavran collected 17 digs.

The Orediggers close out the tournament at 3 p.m. against Eastern Oregon.
