Cobras sweep Americans

GREAT FALLS — The Butte Cobras began 2022 the same way they closed out 2021.

Luke Schleusner scored two goals to lead the way as the Cobras skated to a 4-2 win NA3HL Frontier Division win over the Great Falls Americans Saturday at the Great Falls Ice Plex. (Stats)

Butte beat Great Falls 5-2 on Friday.

Drysten Bailey and Nick Bradshaw also scored goal for the Cobras, who lifted their record to 14-18-2.

Schleusner scored a goal assisted by Cade Wessman and Bradshaw 2 minutes, 50 seconds into the game to Butte on top for good. Bailey scored off assists from Ross Biggerstaff and Johan Olsen to open the second period.

After Garrett Weisenburger scored for Great Falls (15-13-3), Schleusner scored a goal assisted by Bradshaw and Wessman for a 3- l lead.

Daniel Crutcher scored late in the second period to cut the lead to 3-2, but Bradshaw scored 5:42 into the third. Wessman and Carson Streich assisted the insurance goal.

Caleb Cross had another big night for the Cobras in net. He turned away 63 shots in the win.

The Cobras are back in action next Saturday night when they welcome Bozeman to the Butte Community Ice Center.
