CODY, Wyo. — Ty Stovin scored two first period goals Saturday night, and the Butte Cobras knocked off the Yellowstone Quake 4-2 in a NA3HL Frontier Division game at the Victor Riley Arena. (Stats)
Kyler Garsjo and Robin Bagley assisted as Stovin gave the Cobras the lead 5 minutes, 22 seconds into the game.
After Yellowstone tied the game on a Mason Merager goal, Stovin found the net for an unassisted goal 33 seconds before the first intermission.
In the second period, Garsjo added an unassisted goal to make it 3-1. Dylan Rumpke scored for the Quake to cut the lead to one, but Nick Bradshaw took a Phillip Winter assist for a goal to make it 4-2 a minute and a half later.
With Danny Fielding in the net, the Cobras held off the Quake throughout a scoreless third period. Fielding turned away 19 of Yellowstone’s 21 shots on goal.
The loss drops Yellowstone, which beat Butt 6-3 Friday, to 8-14 on the season.
The Cobras (3-21) will play host to the Missoula Junior Bruins next Friday. Butte will travel to Missoula on Saturday.
