Carsten Quam assisted on the first, while Varney and Robin Bagley registered an assist on the second.

Ty Stovin’s unassisted goal made it 4-1 Butte early in the second period. After Isaac Ellingson scored, Winter’s second goal, this one assisted by Joe Erickson, made it 5-2.

Nicholas Cenis and Daniel Liner scored for Helena (4-10) in the third, but it was too little, too late.

The Cobras (1-13) will be back at home Friday to play host to Bozeman.
