Three Missoula goals in the second period proved to be the difference Friday night as the Junior Bruins turned back the Butte Cobras 5-3 in an NA3HL Frontier Division game at the Butte Community Ice Center. (Stats)

Trailing 5-1, Butte got goals from Riley Austin and Kyler Garsjo in the third period, both assisted by Nick Bradshaw, but that was as close as the hometown team would come.

Missoula never trailed in stopping a two-game losing streak to the Cobras. Austin Frank and Liam Bland put the Junior Bruins up 2-0 before Garsjo scored a goal assisted by Robin Bagley and Blake Nichols with 28 seconds left in the first.

Bland scored his 21st goal of the season to open the second period. Pablo Frank and Kade Levins added goals before the final intermission.

The Cobras skated to wins over Missoula last Friday and again on Monday.

Missoula improved its record to 11-6-2 with the victory. Butte (3-18-1) is off until they head to Great Falls to take on the Americans on New Year’s Eve.
