Cobras rally past Quake

CODY, Wyo. — The Butte Cobras erupted for five third-period goals to skate past the Yellowstone Quake for an 8-7 victory Friday night at Riley Arena. (Stats)

The game winner came when Ethan Doney scored off a Tyson Stovin assist with 1 minute, 13 seconds left in regulation.

Stovin also fed Robin Bagley for the game-tying goal with 2:25 left in the game. That came after Luke Hartge put the Quake up 7-6 a little more than 5 minutes earlier.

Hartge scored all seven goals for Yellowstone, which led 5-3 heading into the third period.

Bryce Gould registered a hat trick to lead the Cobras to their second win of the season. Carsten Quam, Alec Sorby and Daniel Liner also scored goals in the win. Sam Leonard turned away 36 shots to get the win in net.

The Cobras will stay in Wyoming to play the Quake again at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
