Just when it looked like fans at the Butte Community Ice Center were in for another barn burner, the Butte Cobras exploded.
Butte scored four goals in the third period Saturday night to turn a 3-2 lead into a 7-2 NA3HL Frontier Division victory over the Sheridan Hawks. (Stats)
The win completed the weekend sweep of the Hawks. Butte won 6-5 on Friday.
Tanner Billman, Fabian Vik, Cade Wessman and Nick Bradshaw scored for the Cobras in the final period. That came after Caden McDonald and Taylor Frerichs scored in the second to pull Sheridan to within one goal to close out the second.
Butte built a 3-0 lead on goals by Patrick Crooks, David Hanny and Wessman.
Billman assisted on three goals, while Wessman and Vik each assisted two. Hanny, Ross Biggerstaff, Robby Arver, Carson Streich and Caelin Chinery all registered assists in the win.
The Cobras are back in action next Saturday when they play host to Helena.
