CMR’s Jack Johnson calls it a career

The winningest high school football coach in Montana history is retiring.

Scott Mansch of the Great Falls Tribune reported on Twitter that he received confirmation that Great Falls Russell football coach Jack Johnson is stepping down after 41 years leading the Rustlers.

Johnson’s Rustlers started the 2013 season with four losses. They won their next seven.

In 2012, the Rustlers advanced to the semifinals, losing literally by inches to Butte High in overtime at Naranche Stadium.

Johnson won 340 games and 13 state championships at CMR.
