Copperhead girls fall in opener

GREAT FALLS — Allie McGrath and Lexi Lewis each scored 17 points to lead Laurel to a 52-38 win over Anaconda in the opening round of the Class A State girls’ basketball tournament Thursday night at the Four Seasons Arena.

Lewis hit on 7 of 11 shots from the field, while McGrath scored 14 of her points from the free throw line.

Senior Taylor Flynn poured in nine points to lead the Copperheads, who will head to loser-out play with an eye on the third-place trophy. Classmate Kiernan Gallagher scored eight points, while Lacee and Courtney Moodry each scored six. and Molly Huber scored five.
