Civic Center set to host State B tourneys

New champions will be crowned this week as the Butte Civic Center plays host to the Class B State boys’ and girls’ basketball tournaments.

Neither title winner from a year ago — the Bigfork boys or the Wolf Point girls — qualified for the tournament that begins Thursday. (Boys’ bracket; Girls’ bracket)

The boys’ tournament will have some local flavor with Three Forks and Deer Lodge both making it to the big dance. The Wolves and Wardens will square off at 8 p.m.

Fairfield will take on Colstrip at 6:30 p.m.

The early boys’ games feature Lodge Grass taking on Shelby at noon, and Arlee battling Rocky Boy at 1:30 p.m. Arlee made a Cinderella run to the tournament after winning the Class C title in 2017 and 2018.

The girls open play when Colstrip takes on Shelby at 9 a.m. Missoula Loyola and Harlem play at 10:30.

On the other half of the bracket, Malta battles Forsyth at 3:30, and Big Timber plays Bigfork at 5.
