Choquettes, Moon, Hunt win Anaconda race

Butte runners Clint Choquette, Matt Choquette and Allison Moon and Deer Lodge’s Nicole Hunt ran to overall victories Saturday at the annual AOH St. Patrick’s Day Run.

Hunt won the women’s 3-mile race, completing the course in 16 minutes, 32 seconds. She beat Anaconda native Lisa Minnehan by 21 seconds. Olivia Wood of Anaconda placed third in 17:55.

Moon finished the 6-mile race in 41:23, beating fellow Butte runner Charissa Bisch by 9 seconds to win the overall title. Hannah Dysinger of Butte finished a close third in 41:53.

Clint Choquette won the 3-mile race in a blistering 14:22. He beat MSU-Billings teammate and fellow Butte High graduate Josh Panasuk who placed second, 24 seconds behind. Ray Hunt of Deer Lodge placed third in 14:57.

Matt Choquette won the men’s 6-mile race in the middle of a training session for next month’s Boston Marathon. Choquette ran 10 miles before the race, then won the 6-mile race in 31:39 before continuing to run on a day of running more than 20 miles.

Helena’s Bryan Jonson was second at 33:46. Butte’s Ozzie Rosenleaf placed third in 36:54.

In all, 612 runners finished the race that saw ideal running conditions in the Smelter City.
