The Butte Muckers opened the American Legion Baseball season on a frigid Saturday on Miners Field at 3 Legends Stadium.
The local nine scored 20 runs over 11 innings, but Butte did not pick up a win. The Muckers fell 16-12 and 15-8 to the Great Falls Chargers in the non-conference twin bill.
The second game was called after four innings because of the cold weather and because both teams needed to save some arms for Sunday.
Butte is back at home Sunday, taking on the Bozeman B team in a 1 p.m. double dip at 3 Legends Stadium.
