Change of plans, Bulldog golfers host tourney

The golf course at Fairmont Hot Springs has a last-minute edition.

The course will play host to the golf teams from Butte High along with the Class AA teams from Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls and Helena Monday and Tuesday.

A dispute with local golf courses forced the cancellation of the Bozeman Invitational, so Fairmont course manager Mark Fisher took on the tournament on short notice, Butte High coach Eric Mankins said.

Play begins at 11 a.m. Monday. Tuesday’s round starts at 9.

Butte High’s teams both finished sixth in Great Falls last week.

Junior Hailey Hoagland placed fifth in individual standings to lead the Butte High girls. Sophomore Shealyn Hafer took sixth. Sophomore Hailey Ogolin also put up some good scores.

The Butte High boys saw four golfers — Mike Jankovich, Ty Murphy, Trey Hoagland and David Starceivch — card rounds in the 70s on the second day in Great Falls.
