Maroons Kump, Keeley, Thatcher also receive honor
The Southwestern A All-Conference softball team was released to the media today, and five Butte Central players made the grade.
The honors come after a late-season push that saw the Maroons play in the Class A State tournament in Butte.
Sophomore Brooke Badovinac and senior Maci Reopelle will represent the Southwestern A on the All-State team. The two also received first-team all-conference accolades.
Senior Maddi Kump and sophomore Mia Keeley were named second-team all-conference, and junior Sofee Thatcher took home an all-conference honorable mention.
Badovinac received the honor after hitting .500 on the season. That includes 18 extra base hits, five home runs and 39 RBIs in 22 games. She also played stellar defense at second, third and shortstop.
In addition to being the team’s No. 1 pitcher, Reopelle hit .347 with five doubles. She also played a strong shortstop, even though she played through a leg injury much of the season.
Kump was BC’s No. 2 pitcher and a fearless third baseman. She hit .347 on the season. Keeley hit .375 for the season while playing catcher for the Maroons. Despite missing a month because of an illness, Thatcher hit .400 for the Maroons.
