HAMILTON — A strong fourth quarter by the Butte Central girls’ basketball team was too little, too late Friday night.

The Maroons used a 13-0 run in the final frame to battle back, but BC still dropped a 47-34 Southwestern A game to the Hamilton Broncs.

BC’s third straight loss sets up a huge 4 p.m. game against Frenchtown at the Maroon Activities Center. A win would give the Maroons (10-4 overall, 6-3 conference) the Southwestern A crown. A loss could sent the Maroons to a Monday divisional play-in game with the season on the line.

The top two teams automatically advance to next week’s Western A Divisional tournament in Butte.

Layne Kearns scored 14 points to lead the Broncs (10-5, 6-4), who led 25-12 at halftime and 41-18 after three quarters.

Magdalena Ringer added seven points, Morgan Brennamen tossed in six, and Rylee Brackman, Madi Devall , Mya Winkler and Katelyn Dickamore each scored five.

Delaney Hasquet and Brooke Badovinac each scored nine points to lead the Maroons. Amira Bolton and Maddi Kump both tossed in five. Payton Hartwick and Sofee Thatcher tossed in three apiece.
