Carroll women turn back Battlin’ Bears in Billings

BILLINGS — No. 8 Carroll College topped No. 22 Rocky Mountain College 58-50 Thursday night in a Frontier Conference women’s basketball game at the Fortin Center. (Stats)

The Battlin’ Bears (11-4 overall, 2-1 Frontier) kept pace with the Saints (12-3, 4-0) before Carroll ended the third quarter with a 15-2 run to take command.

Jaidyn Lyman’s 14 points paced the Saints. Danielle Wagner scored 10, while Christine Denny netted nine, and Hannah Dean and Brittney Johnson each scored seven. Denny also pulled down nine rebounds.

Alecia Chamberlin paced the Bears with 15 points. Brooke Jones scored 12 points in the loss.

Freshman Kloie Thatcher, a Butte Central graduate, hit a 3-poitner and finished the game with three points, five assists and three blocked shots.

The Bears will be in Butte Saturday to take on Montana Tech. The women’s game starts the doubleheader at 5:30 p.m.
