Carroll women bow out of NAIA tournament

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — Jasmine Crawford came off the bench to score 20 points Thursday night as Concordia (California) beat Carroll College 59-48 in the first round of the NAIA women’s national tournament. Stats

Janis Peterson scored 14 points for Concordia (23-6), which led 32-17 at halftime. Brittany Stafford scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

Cassidy Hashley scored 20 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead the Saints, who close the season at 18-11. Kalee Junkermier scored 10 points. Butte Central graduate Kacie McKeon scored two points for the Saints.

In Thursday’s other game involving Frontier Conference teams, Westminster College beat Cumberland (Tennessee) 53-38.

In Friday’s second round, the University of Great Falls plays Langston (Oklahoma), MSU-Northern Takes on New Orleans and Westminster plays Westmont (California).

On the men’s side Thursday in Kansas City, Missouri, Rocky Mountain College fell 74-63 to Talladega (Alabama), and Lewis-Clark State dropped a 77-60 decision to Westmont (California).

Friday’s second round sees Montana Western take on top-seeded Hope International (California). That game tips off at 5:15 p.m. Mountain Time.
