WHITEFISH — Students-athletes from Carroll College and Montana Western were selected Frontier Conference Football Players of the Week, the league announced today.
Offensive Player of the Week: Matthew Burgess, Carroll College
Burgess is a 5-foot-11, 195-pound freshman running back from Junction City, Oregon. In Carroll’s 44-7 home conference win over No. 23 Rocky Mountain College, Burgess rushed for 153 yards and three touchdown on 21 carries.
Jed Fike of Montana Tech, Wyatt Hutchinson of Southern Oregon, Hunter Juarez of College of Idaho, Jon Jund of Montana Western, Josh Kraft of Rocky Mountain College and Isaiah Thomas of Eastern Oregon were also nominated.
Defensive Player of the Week: Joe Caicedo, Montana Western
Caicedo is a 6-1, 220-pound junior linebacker from Darby. In No. 25 Montana Western’s 38-13 road conference win over MSU-Northern, Caicedo recorded six solo tackles, three assisted tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss (-10).
Logan Kolodejchuk of Montana Tech, Michael Chisley Jr. of Southern Oregon, Haziel Ledezma of Eastern Oregon, Mason Price of Rocky Mountain College and Zach Spiroff of Carroll College were also nominated.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Mark Kharchenko of Montana Western
Kharchenko, 6-2, 175-pound junior kicker from Colville, Washington. In Western’s win over MSU-Northern, Kharchenko was 5 for 5 PATs and was 1 for 1 in field goals (30-yards).
Jaiden Machuca of Eastern Oregon and Tyler Padilla of Montana Tech were also nominated.
