Capital tops Bulldog girls

HELENA — Butte High’s girls’ basketball team started slow and couldn’t recover Tuesday night.

Helena Capital too an 18-5 first-quarter lead and went on to beat the Bulldogs 56-33 in a non-conference game at the Capital gym.

Paige Partsch and Sydney Sheridan each scored 12 points to lead the Bruins in the win. Emily Kidder and Dani Bartsch each tossed in 11.

Ally Cleverly poured in 10 points to lead the Bulldogs, who fell to 1-2. MacKenzie Tutty and Haley Herron each scored five in the loss, while Justise Birkenbuel, Makenna Carpenter and Brittney Tierney scored three apiece.

Butte High also got two points each from Aspen Lovshin and Kira Mortensen.

The Bulldogs are back in action Friday when they play host to Kalispell Flathead at the Civic Center.
