Capital starts fast, downs Butte High boys

HELENA — Helena Capital outscored Butte High 27-11 in the first quarter, and the Bulldogs couldn’t recover in a 68-43 non-conference boys’ basketball game.

Kyle Nickol scored 16 points to lead the Bruins, who led 44-25 at halftime and 57-34 after three quarters. Carson Dummer scored 15 points, while Kyle Harrington netted 11.

Brian Smith hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 15 points to lead the Bulldogs, who fell to 1-2.

Dallas Cook scored eight points, while Peter Granger and Killian O’Leary each scored six points.

Butte High also got four points from Chance Kremer and two apiece from Cory Farstveet and Sam Maloney.

The Bulldogs are back in action Thursday when they head to Missoula to play Big Sky.
