‘Cancer Schmancer’ Night set for Friday at MAC

Butte Central’s basketball games against Anaconda on Friday have been designated as “Cancer Schmancer” Pink Night.

The doubleheader begins with the girls’ game at 6 p.m. The boys’ game is at 7:30.

As part of the event, the BC girls’ basketball team will wear pink uniforms and the BC boys team will wear pink warm-ups. To promote cancer awareness and to show support for those who have battled cancer, all cancer survivors will be admitted free to the game.  All cancer survivors will also be presented a carnation just before the boys’ game.

The double-header will also be designated as Mairissa’s Way Night in memory of Mairissa Peoples, who was a former Butte Central basketball player and Central Junior High Basketball Coach. Mairissa passed away in 2014.

Fans attending the game are encouraged to wear pink. Pink T-shirts will be on sale in the MAC lobby during the double-header. Proceeds from the T-shirt sales will be split between the Butte Relay for Life, the Northwest Sarcoma Foundation, and the Mairissa’s Way Faculty Endowment at Butte Central.
